emailed to Colton Hills Parents Tuesday 11th April
We have received an email this morning advising us of a delay to the return of our swimming lessons after the Easter Break. As you will see from the extract below from the school, asbestos has been detected in the plant room which until professionally removed by an external company restricts access to the plantroom where the chemicals for the pool maintenance are stored.
‘I am sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but we have had to make the call to close the pool with immediate effect.
This is due to asbestos being found in the pool plant room whilst remedial surveys were being done for work, we are carrying out in the summer holidays having new boilers fitted.
The LA ( Local Authority )asbestos team has confirmed this morning that we are not allowed entry into the plant room, not even under supervision and in full PPE so this means we can no longer control the swimming pool levels etc.
The date that we have currently been given to re-open is Monday 15th May. I will keep you all in the loop and give updates as and when I have any. We apologise for the inconvenience this will cause we are devastated too but it is completely out of our hands.
Many Thanks
Corrina’
It goes without saying we are beyond disappointed, once the work this has been completed, with new boilers being replaced over the summer holidays the pool and its facilities will be one of the best school pools in the local area and we are committed to offer progressive, bespoke lessons with nice small class numbers.
For your diaries our expected return date in May will be week commencing Monday 15th May this will be week 7 of the 9 week course, so the course will pick up where we have left off, our full terms and conditions can be found on our website www.salamandaswimmingacademy.com. ( Please be advised we will not be offering refunds on this occasion as the course will pick up where it left off) . We will communicate via emails a confirmed date nearer the time .
We strongly recommend if you are not already on Facebook or Instagram that you follow our social media pages as we will be trying to put added pressure on the school and the contractors to return before the scheduled date.
